Review of Forked River, New Jersey

Look elsewhere
Star Rating - 10/2/2021
I lived in FR for 5 years. I purchased there as it was cheap waterfront. Unfortunately, you get what you pay for. From the day I made that mistaken purchase, the community seemed to erode. Soon after my purchase, the corrupt local government approved a Walmart and from then onward, the community seemed to just disintegrate. The amazing thing about this place is the bizarre attitude of the residents. If you do not initiate a conversation, they will never speak with you. Very strange as I had come from north NJ where (believe it or not) people were much more friendly and "normal". I've lived in areas where you are judged by how much money you make or what you look like (not saying that's good); In Forked River you are judged on how big your tires are on your pick up truck or how fast your Civic is when the light turns green. Absolutely no culture and no hope here. Avoid at all cost; was beyond happy when I was able to escape this nightmare; felt bad for the people that bought me out. Look elsewhere and only consider if what I've described appeals to you or your idea of fine dining is taco bell. This town, as well as most of NJ, is dying. Look at the demographics; people are leaving. Don't make what could be the worst mistake of your life!
